After searching for a career that may seem interesting, I came across the glass blowing classes held at The Studio in Corning, NY. I instantly became intrigued with the art of blowing glass.
I took my first class in the Spring of 2006. It was a beginners glass blowing class. During the ten weeks, I learned all the basics. It takes many years to master this art.
I have continued to takes classes from that point on. You can never learn enough in this industry. I have the privilege to work with some of the best glass blowers in the world. Corning, NY is one of the well-known glass blowing centers.
In the Summer of 2006, I was offered at job at the Corning Museum of Glass. As one of the Hot Glass demonstrators, I see many people everyday during the busy season.
In the down season, I work for the Fun with Glass program at The Studio. This jobs allows me to demonstrate and teach young students, adults and senior citizens the art of glass blowing. I find this job very gratifying. I get to teach what I love.
Currently, I am working towards opening my own studio at my home. My wife is my assistant and together, we have created some beautiful work and some interesting pieces along the way.
During the summer, you can find me at the local craft shows selling my products. Not only do I get to sell my work, I also get to meet people who love art work as well.
The Finger Lakes are a great area with many hidden gems. I was fortunate in finding one of the unique areas of study.
